PG Shoot: off-cam flashing

Some manual off-cam flash triggering. :P

I hate the fact that canon does not have a built in low light illumination that nikon has. Manual focusing is really difficult in low light and you can't even auto-focus properly lols.

My sunday shoot last September 26. It was actually an impromtu shoot for me because I didn't bring my low powered light stands and triggers just made do with my 50mm, kit lens and flash. We made use of the available light that we had then so we had a bit of a hard time shooting but im glad with some of the outcomes and generally the shoot went well and smoothly.

Barbie & Che

This shoot happened way back last October 28 2009. Those were the days that I was still passionate enough to do some photoshoots. Recently, I am getting bored and lazy to come up with my own shoots even if some friends are inviting me. I'm lacking initiative partly maybe because I'm not that creative anymore. Sigh* if only I had my own studio then or could spice up my creativity more.. when I need it most.

3-6-9

It's a gossip girl inspired photo haha. Had a little reunion with a friend from highschool last 9/11 had a couple of drinks and covered a debut for a friend's sister. I really hoped a lot of my hs buds were attending but unfortunately only two of us could make it. I guess that's what happens with time, everybody is getting busy with something already but nevertheless my friends from highschool still haven't changed a bit, Same old same old.

We also met a chef-professor from CSB who is also a former bosconian and he's kinda pretty cool y'know. We chatted about being a Bosconian and some old school stuff: Rivalry with CSA, St.Scholastica, and the stuff. We also talked about how Bosconians are easily flexible, how we are able to adapt easily with people with from all walks of life.

Im not pretty much good with names but the chef-professor I'm talking about is the one on the right in the photo above

After the debut at Attica bar we had an afterparty with the Nepomuceno's. They rented two rooms in Artina Suites in Makati. We played a couple of card games: Pusoy Dos, Tong-its, my least favorite of all 3-6-9, name game. 3-6-9 Is my least favorite because its the game where I was forced to shot a couple of drinks in a row cause I kept making mistakes. Funny though haha

I guess that's pretty much like it.

My friends, Anne, and the Nepo sisters Janina and Justine respectively

Magic 89.9 Concert at San Beda College

Here's a little something from last Aug 27 2010 in San Beda College. It's actually a free concert hosted by magic 89.9's Andi Manzano (Andi-9) and Jessica Mendoza. Don't worry they'll be coming at your school next for sure.

Four Bands played. Namely Letter Day Story, Kenyo, Tanya Markova and I think Pedicab. I only covered the first three bands and then I left. Oh a shout out also to Tanya Markova's two vocalists who are also fellow Bedans - Alumnus from a not-so-distant batch.

Oh btw just a though, from an angle, Kenyo's lead vocalist look like Borgie Hermida.

(The two vocals from the left are fellow Bedans)

Angels

As a kid I used to think that Angels were real and that each one of us has a Guardian Angel of our own. Well I still do and hope that there is one watching over someone right now.

Chasing Dreams

The whole world anticipated as the man who calls himself "The King" is infront of live television, perhaps ESPN / NBA's own version of a one-hour reality TV sitcom. For a moment, FIFA worldcup was taken to the shadows in anticipation for the Lebron James Decision. Prior to that and even prior to the free agency period, Lebron's marketing team and the defeat to the Boston Celtics in the playoff's created a media hype for his future in the NBA. I myself waited its broadcast on ESPN or Btv but to my disappointment it never aired so I googled a youtube copy of it instead tonight. Luckily, Twitter flooded with news about it so I got myself updated with the Lebron James spectacle and infact a lot of hate and love was shown for Lebron James.

His announcement shocked the NBA world, his team mates and even his hometown in Ohio. It broke the hearts of many Cleveland fans even prompting some "haters" to burn his Jersey and in fact youtube is crawling with videos of it. Even Dan Gilbert released a press statement on the Cavaliers website airing out his own grievance over the Lebron James Decision

Luckily, Twitter flood with news about it so I got myself updated with the Lebron James spectacle and infact a lot of hate and love was shown for Lebron James.

Now my question that I would like to point to is.. If Lebron James still left Cleveland but had a different scenario, say he went to Chicago or New York, would the world, specially Cleveland would still hate him? I mean even Kevin Garnett chose to end it with the Timberwolves and join Paul Pierce and Ray Allen to form the Big Three in beantown and the Timberwolves were not even that much affected. I've never seen such bitterness in a sporting event before. I may have retweeted a lot of those hate tweets but don't get me wrong, I'm for Lebron in his decision. I mean everyone have their own dreams to chase, sometimes you just have let some of the the things go and find other ways to achieve your dream. It may be an ephemeral dream but once you've accomplished it you can tell the world you've reached the top of the summit. Some say that he abandoned or gave up his Legacy for being at par with Kobe Bryant heck Even Lebron - in all his greatness -needs help, even superstars needed a superstar: Pierce needed KG and Allen, Kobe needed Gasol and Artest, Michael Jordan had Pippen and Rodman, need I say more? He has never had a championship ring and hopefully won't end up as a great NBA player with no championship trophy (like Malone)

Perhaps the only reason why James received ugly comments is because he became too self-centered in his Image and as Dan Gilbert would classify: A self proclaimed King but was he really the one or was it the fans who gave him first that title back in his days at the Cavaliers?

Whatever the outcome of the season maybe good luck to the Miami Heat for pulling this one of, It'll be great to see Wade, Bosh, and James act unselfishly to win a trophy just like what the Big Three in Celtics did and in the words of Dwayne Wade "Fall Seven times Stand up Eight" that should be enough to inspire Bosh and James to win it this time. Though my heart goes to the Bulls and Oklahoma, I'd like to see how the outcome of this trade goes.

In the end, after all of this is over one thing is for sure.

"We are all witnesses."

Light painting / Rarindra fail

I happen to come across this great photographer from Indonesa who has mastered the art of lighting in his photos. Some might argue that his lighting style is done in photoshop but nonetheless his photos are awesome. Photoshop or real, his technique is flawless and his mastery over how lighting can create that surreal mood in a photograph is amazing.

His name is Rarindra so go check out some of his works here

The tutorial at digital photographer is kinda difficult to understand so here's my futile attempt in reproducing Rarindra style lightrays. :(

Fun shoot at Cavite

Okay one night my phone rang and I got this weird text from someone asking me to free my sunday and then I read the senders name.. Oh it was Chesza. I had no load but I pm'd her and said ok (as if I had a choice hehe) This shoot was supposed to have happened a few weeks back but was postponed due to lack of wardrobe reasons.

Anyway the shoot happened somewhere in a farm in Cavite just Fifteen minutes away from Tagaytay. Picked me up in Jollibee PhilCOA almost rode the wrong pickup. They were friendly inside the car had a few chit-chats, passed alabang through Villar's real estates and arriving just in time for the right hours. Weather was good during the day and it rained in the farm during the sunset.

Just a few photos, I didn't shoot much. My battery is one bar throughout the day cause my 450d's charger went MIA. Luckily it lasted for about 3 hours :P

That figures..

BTW BTS photos are from Karlo Tibayan (first two) and Christian Videna (last two) photographers who tagged along with us :)

Oasis of childhood years

If your a kid growing up from the 90's, for sure you'll know this song by the Gallagher brothers Liam and Noel in their band Oasis ' Champagne Supernova ' who wouldn't? tell me really? then you must be a dork! haha kidding though funny I grew up knowing only one song from this awesome band from Manchester (yup you guess it right) Wonderwall. I guess I lost nearly half my childhood not knowing much about Oasis though you can't blame me though cause I was only about 6 or 7 years and I wasn't paying much attention to the rock scene then.
Champagne Supernova gives me that relaxing feeling of being back in those days when guitars ruled the world and not hiphop, or that feeling of wanting to follow the footsteps of your favorite rock stars (or bands in the case). The lyrics itself makes me feel as if i'm in a state of nostalgic drunken revelry induced by a mind affecting lyric-drug.

Maybe it's just the effect of feeling getting older and not being able to have achieved one of the deliverables you promised yourself. Like setting your path yet you strayed far away from your intended destination. Frustration suddenly kicks-in to me because I have given up so many of my goals in life.

I know I have given up on my dream a long time ago yet I really don't know why I still keep looking back at that fertile green land in the middle of the desert. It's perhaps I have left something there or perhaps something is calling me back there.

The memories perhaps?

I can't post the youtube MTV of Champagne Supernova due to the owner disabling embeds by request, here's a link though if you really want to listen to it

Lyrics:

Song - Champagne Supernova

Released - October 1996 on (WTS) MG? album, 13.05.1996 as a single in USA

Available On - US Single, (What's The Story) Morning Glory? album, Stop The Clocks album.

HIghest US Chart Position - 33

Lyrics -

How many special people change?
How many lives are living strange?
Where were you while we were getting high?

Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannonball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova in the sky

Wake up the dawn and ask her why
A dreamer dreams, she never dies
Wipe that tear away now from your eye

Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannonball
Where were you while we were getting high?

Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova
'Cuz people believe
That they're gonna get away from the summer

But you and I will never die
The world's still spinning around we don't know why
Why-why-why-why-i-i

Of poll-litics and jejemoo's

"...mooo i'm so tired stop taking photos of me."

I saw this cow resting while on our field research. At first I was hesitant to approach till I was sure it won't attack me hehehe Yea I know cow's are friendly. :) hehehe

Hmm funny ever since I came here the jejemon craze reached the likes of politicians like the Nacionalista party's anti-jejemon spoof video and with the recent photo of Gibo (photoshopped or authentic?) holding a message saying he'll send those jejemons back to elementary.

On other related stuff, Election day is nearing and I somehow agree with Gordon's arguments regarding his lawsuit? against the SWSS and Pulse Asia survey's as it may or might condition the Filipino crab mentality to vote whoever is popular. Like hello, compare Noy as against Gibo or Gordon.

No peeking of votes :P vote for your own candidate, vote for who you think is the best one that will lead our country and not based on popularity only.

Tugs Tugs Tugs!

Tuguegarao City, the pansit capital of the Philippines which is also the hottest (in temp measurement guys) place to be in the Country due to the fact that it is surrounded by Mountain Ridges in the famous Cagayan Valley.

I've been busy here since we arrived last wednesday morning. We had to do errands and do data gathering from NSO and other places.

I haven't have had so much time sight seeing yet but maybe tonight or tomorrow we'll tour around for awhile before the heavy tasks next week.

The evening's here in Tugs City is unlike the metro. Very peaceful and quiet. I guess even though it's a city
it is still a province one might say.

BTW if you would want to go here, you should try pansit cabagan. It's a very tasty pansit, and what's interesting is that there is no pansiteria that offers exactly the same toppings, recipe's etc for Cabagan. They differentiate their cabagans from other panciteria's much. I've eaten three types of pansit already 2 cabagans and one pansit batil  patong (pic below)

The runaway intern and the other side of things

"There's got to be more to life than chasing than chasing every temporary high to satisfy me"

While I was in the bus, I couldn not help but feel relaxed about this sight outside the bus window. Lucky for me that I was able to take this shot early in the morning because the bus stopped when I woke up. I do not know the exact time though as I had my cellphone off. What immediately came into my mind upon seeing this are the long hours of class room lectures regarding rural-urban, development and agriculture economics. There's something about the countryside that gives me a sense of easiness. Perhaps it's because Im finally away from the noise of the bustling and crowded metro that is NCR. I also suddenly remember my Bangkok escapade and the roadtrip I had to Pattaya and Huahin. God I miss adventuring. Perhaps this is me running away from the life I have in Quezon City, trying to find what it really is that will make me feel alive...

And so it came to pass

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought ... it figures

Indeed life has so many ironies that sometimes appear out of nowhere and unexpectedly.

April 8th would've been a proud moment for me. I would've been ended the four years that my parents invested in me, I would've walked the glorious halls of San Beda with my hands up high and with my head up in the sky... But that is not the case for graduation is yet a far fetch'd dream for me. Collegiate life isn't over for me as I am still completing some of my backsubjects.

There is this feeling of uneasiness and difficulty to see the people you met in college walk on that very stage leave this chapter of life into the next stage. Whats more difficult is to see the block you spent four years of your life with go on without you. Nevertheless it is my fault, my own blue-jeans attitude. All that's left to say is congratulations to the people I've met, the friends I made,  Through all those three years of championships may God bless each and every Bedan graduate AY09-10 May all of you have fruitful careers. To my block, 4aec: Though fate may have separated us for awhile, know that destiny played its part for us to have met in life and someday we will meet again, lives intertwine.

Oh by the way it's my birthday today and isn't it ironic? don't you think?

sucks.

Photoshopping on a black saturday

Okay so I was browsing on facebook when I stumbled upon a friend's photo that looked like it had that zemotion/vintage-y less contrasty look. Being a huge fan of zemotion's work, I decided to try and find how to do it on photoshop. Instead I ended up having fun with photoshop and played with my plug ins and came up with this style of cross processing.

I did have fun though as I was able to find new ways to cross process using the available technology I have.

Toga

Toga pictures! hehe sucks though, child's play (the official yearbook photographers) didn't include the edited version of our pictures on the CD. I might scan it when I have the time though cause their editing is kinda different from what I posted on my FB and Multiply.

A pleasant morning and a fun night last night. Had a couple of drinks with friends from economics. Just a few more weeks to Go and they'll be graduating while me i'd be watching over the sideline as some of our classmates graduate already. Which reminds me, I still have a lot of things to accomplish as well as a task to do: Find an internship :)

I've finally added a site counter to my blog. Hopefully one day this photoblogger will be viewed from all across the globe hehe.

Blockmates

Blockmates - They are just some of the few peoples you spend 4 years of your college life with. Somehow they gave meaning and color to the time you spent trying to get the skills you'll need to survive in the big world.

To be honest i'm not that enthusiastic after college. Everything will change, the carefree blue-jeans life you once had in college will be just a memory. All the laughters, the adventures, the beer nights and the mischief's you once did with your college berks will probably not be the same again because by then everybody will have a different life.

However I am happy that I was given the chance to have studied Economics in San Beda College. Even though we are just a small department in a not-so-small campus. I'm thankful I met these peeps. And I hope that even though we'd part ways, we'll all find ways to get in touch again.
